Varpu Alasuutari defended her PhD in gender studies at the University of Turku, Finland on June 5, 2020. In her dissertation, she has examined death and loss as parts of queer and trans lives in Finland from the 1980s to the 2010s. Her research interests include queer kinship studies, queer death studies and feminist affect theories.

Zara Saeidzadeh completed her doctoral degree in Gender Studies at Örebro University, Sweden on June 4, 2020. In her doctoral thesis, she examines the lives of trans people who undergo sex-change surgery in Iran from a socio-legal perspective. She now teaches and works as a researcher in Gender Studies at Örebro University. She is also a research associate at Simone de Beauvoir Institute, Concord
